Administration – Responsibilities

The Laboratory of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is managed by a faculty member of the Department of Physiotherapy of the University of West Attica to which the Laboratory belongs and has a subject area corresponding to those described in the Laboratory’s Purpose.
The Director of the Laboratory is elected for a three-year term of office in accordance with the procedure of article 29 of Law No. 4485/2017 (Government Gazette 114 /t.A./04-08-2017) and may be a first-grade Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor. The Director shall be replaced in case of absence or incapacity by the most senior faculty member, starting from the first rank and exhausting the ranks up to the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Director of the Laboratory exercises such responsibilities as:

  1. the coordination of the teaching (undergraduate – postgraduate) and research work of the Laboratory,
  2. submitting to the Assembly of the Department the annual operating programme of the Laboratory,
  3. ensuring compliance with the rules and regulations and the operating programme of the Laboratory, as well as staffing, financial management of income and the allocation of the Laboratory’s premises,
  4. submitting to the Departmental Assembly the annual and triennial report on the activities of the Laboratory,
  5. the representation of the Laboratory in the competent bodies of the Department and the University in accordance with the provided internal regulations,
  6. ensure the financial management of the Laboratory’s resources,
    ensure the staffing of the Laboratory with the necessary personnel, in accordance with the provisions of the legislation in force, as well as the organization of research groups of scientific staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students,
  7. ensure the allocation of the Laboratory’s premises,
  8. recommends to the Department the supply of the necessary equipment and consumables,
  9. signs all outgoing documents related to the Laboratory and is generally responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the Laboratory.

Installation – Hardware Infrastructure

The Laboratory is located in the Department of Physiotherapy of the University of West Attica, University Campus 1. In general, the Laboratory’s premises are the areas allocated for the conduct of its research work and in particular the areas of the special facilities with the instruments and other laboratory and technical equipment for the conduct of research programmes and related activities.
The Laboratory shall comply with the prescribed conditions of operation and hygiene in accordance with the legislation in force.
A sign with the title of the Laboratory and the name of the Director is displayed in the premises.

Rules for the operation of the Laboratory

  1. The Laboratory operates during working days and hours, in accordance with the Internal Regulations of the University of West Attica.
  2. The Director coordinates all work carried out within the framework of a research programme or other project that has been decided and determines the priority in the use of consumables, instruments and premises, in the absence of other relevant decisions. He is also responsible for the protection of instruments and facilities from damage, the safe accommodation of staff, students and visitors and generally responsible for the uninterrupted operation of the Laboratory.
  3. The use of laboratory equipment is allowed only to the scientific staff of the Laboratory or to other researchers who have been trained in the use of the specific instruments and have been authorised by the Director. Equipment and general objects of the Laboratory which are delivered for the conduct of educational and research work shall be returned, after
    after use, in the condition in which they were in when they were handed over.
